EMILY MAKOWSKI

Writer • Editor Fact-Checker

Hi! I'm currently a full-time copy editor and fact-checker at Scientific American. I've also worked as a PR person, journalist and lab technician.

I'm interested in science, health, poetry, cooking and public transportation. My writing has appeared in The Scientist, Environmental Health News, MIT News and Undark.

In my spare time, you can find me attempting to cook the perfect buffalo wing (or buffalo seitan) to remind me of my hometown, Buffalo, NY. I have a blog on abandoned malls that has also been abandoned, more or less. Contact me on Twitter @EmilyRMakowski
